The SOCIAL DESIGN LAB partners with the SOCIAL DESIGN STUDIO at RICE UNIVERSITY. In partnership with Design for America, the Social Design Studio works to train undergraduate and graduate students in social design skills. Student teams typically identify and work together with local shareholders to address problems in the Houston area. Recent student design projects have addressed problems such as improving food availability and equity, creating green infrastructure for climate resilience, and organizing pop-up experiences to facilitate public communication and conversation.
